Why the Choice Matters
Choosing a med spa SEO company is a six-to-twelve-month decision. SEO compounds, which means a good partner builds an asset that keeps producing bookings - and a bad one burns months you can’t get back while competitors pull further ahead in Google Maps.
The challenge is that most proposals sound the same. Everyone promises “more traffic” and “page one.” The difference shows up in specifics: which treatments, which pages, which links, which metrics.
12 Questions to Ask a Med Spa SEO Company
- Which med spas or aesthetic practices have you helped, and what changed? Ask for examples with before-and-after visibility or lead data, and whether you can speak with a client. (Here are ours.)
- Who will do the work? Find out whether you’ll work with the strategist who sold the deal or be handed to a junior team or overseas vendor.
- What exactly happens each month? Get deliverables in writing: pages written, pages optimized, links earned, profile updates.
- Which treatments will you prioritize first, and why? A good answer references your margins, repeat-visit potential and competition - not just search volume.
- How will you improve our Google map pack rankings? Listen for categories, services, reviews, citations and geo-grid tracking.
- How do you earn links? The answer should involve outreach, partnerships, PR and content - never “packages.”
- How do you handle AI search? They should mention answer-first content, schema, entity consistency and brand mentions.
- How do you measure success? Rankings are a leading indicator; calls, forms and booked consultations are the result.
- How do you keep content compliant? Look for awareness of FTC rules on reviews and claims, before-and-after consent and patient privacy.
- Who owns the website, content and accounts? You should own everything, with admin access to your profile and analytics.
- What does the contract require? Understand term length, cancellation notice and what happens to work in progress.
- What results are realistic in 90 days, six months and a year? Honest agencies give ranges and explain what could slow progress.
Red Flags
- Guaranteed rankings. Nobody controls Google’s algorithm.
- Secret methods. Legitimate SEO isn’t proprietary magic; you should understand what’s being done.
- Link counts as a selling point. “200 backlinks a month” usually means low-quality or spam links.
- Review or follower offers. Buying fake reviews or social indicators is prohibited under the FTC’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials.
- They own your assets. Some agencies build sites or profiles they keep if you leave.
- Keyword-stuffed business names. Advice to add “Botox” to your profile name violates Google’s guidelines and risks suspension.
- Reporting without revenue. Traffic charts with no calls, forms or bookings.
What a Strong Proposal Includes
- An audit summary with specific technical, content and local issues found on your site.
- A competitor comparison against the med spas currently ranking for your top treatments.
- A keyword-to-page map for your priority treatments and locations.
- A month-by-month roadmap for the first 90 days.
- Defined KPIs and a reporting format.
- Clear pricing, term and ownership language.
